Since living by myself, I definitely am reaching out more to connect with friends old and new. And it has been great! It has been wonderful connecting with people in so many different ways.
However, the other element which I've been working on is to just be wth myself. To sit with whatever loneliness or negative feelings and instead of trying to push them away or smother them, to just let them be and gently talk myself out of it- a sort of self soothing if you will.
I've found this creates a far more powerful, stronger place of inner being and a more calm place of security. Because at the core of loneliness is perhaps some sort of isolation, abandonment or maybe even rejection. The ideal scenario is to be self sufficient so that you could be alone or in a room full of people and be equally happy. It's when we introduce separation into the equation that things can feel funky!
