I have spent some wonderful time with my 11 month old nephew and it is so joyful being able to literally watch someone take their first steps into the world!
Everything is new and everything still takes some getting used to. But with the right guidance, the new borns can flourish and develop. I know some of you might not have had the kindest carers raising you but the human spirit is indomitable!
As he is learning to get used to supporting himself on his two little legs and walking, he is prone to falling a lot! But as Abe say, instead of shouting 'Get up you little dummy!', you just send em love, prop them back up and know with enough practise that they'll be walking and running in no time!
You must treat yourself with that same level of kindness! As Louise Hay says in her 'Love Yourself' talk, don't expect to be perfect! Instead, gently encourage yourself, congratulate yourself often and be kind to yourself!
Over the years, I see those who come along and be consistent in their practise and others who probably give up because it is not yielding results fast enough. Take your time, knowing that every small step is on the way to a better feeling life.
Just try to implement small changes in your life- a few minutes of meditation, listing some small things you appreciate, bit by bit you can do it!
And you never get it done! There'll always be another layer of crap to uncover haha. Because we are eternal humans beings These things go deep and like an onion, there are many layers to the consciousness.
I was watching Model Guru- a guru comes and helps someone with their issue. This episode was focused on a lady who just couldn't sleep. Sounds simple enough right? But there was a lot going on, they looked at her nutrition and lots of physicality things, but a lot of mental issues came up- surrounding herself with an inordinate amount of animals which took over her house, she didn't like meditating as it involved closing her eyes (equalling to her, a loss of control- also linked to her poor sleeping patterns). So it took many weeks of clearing and clearing. As is the same with our psyche.
The goal isn't to reach a place of perfection where nothing bugs us and we are zen-ified 24/7. The goal is to be ok with who and where we are. Knowing that expansion is part and parcel of what we are here to experience.
Let go, flow and know!!!
Happy walking!!!
Lots of love, Nick Xxx
