One of the great things in the groups and I find as a student, are the personal experiences and sharings. It is one thing to speak from a place of theory but things can take on a whole new resonant level when you share from the heart.
At the James Bond concert, the presenter did a great job. But it was particularly when she was recounting her stories of working in the movies that she lit up, she painted a vivid picture and I felt she really created a connection with the audience.
On some level, you know when someone is being genuine (usually!). It comes from years of evolutionary survival and your intuition. But more over its just more entertaining, touching and endearing when someone shares a personal story. It takes on a different energy compared with someone repeating some meaningless info memorised by rote.
This couldn't more true if you've got your own business, are sharing a passion or some other sort of thing where you're putting yourself out there. As Amanda Palmer and Brene Brown's TED talks beautifully demonstrate- being able to ask and be vulnerable are strengths and not weaknesses! It can take you to new levels of connectedness with those in your world.
Too often when we present ourselves, we worry about how we'll be perceived or what the other people out that would like to hear from us. But what really matters is what we would like to offer, how we can best feel good about ourselves and being open enough to share what we have to share.
Just be you, is what we really want to say. Because you are uniquely you! No one else can offer whatever you can, in the way that you can.
It's all good!!!
Happy you-ing!!!
