Whilst I like to think I know best, it’s handy to be open to suggestions and to see what can be learned and to not be too precious. It kinda annoys me over the years that DJs don’t really play requests (typically) and so whenever possible I will try to play someone’s request. And the response is usually really great by the crowd. They are part of the group so it makes sense that they might be in tune with what would be needed.
It’s also a great way to learn new songs or be reminded of old good ones! So it’s good to be open to learning. It’s important to stay aligned with self and self and you have to judge it- others will not always be right, but just be open and see what happens.
