Wolfgang Munchau from the FT recounts the story of 'Before The Law' by Franz Kafka. He tells the story of a gentlemen who was outside a courtroom seeking entrance. He stands outside the door wanting to walk in, but is told by whomever that whilst it's possible in principle, it's not a good time at the moment.
He waits his entire life and it's only when he transitions over that he is told he could've walked through the door at any point!
You see, he was following the rules, but the rules of the mind. In other words, it was just self imposed restrictions!
Now, whilst the challenges we go through might not be quite as simple. The principle is the same.
A better anything can be just one thought away- it's the difference between 'I can't' and 'I can'- that's quite mind blowing when you think about it!
Just because someone says you shouldn't do something for whatever reason, that doesn't need to be your reality! You don't need to follow the rules of their game. Instead you need to write your own rules.
Create the life you want to live, paying attention to what feels right and following that. Some doors will slam shut, some you won't be able to open at all, but keep going and it will be a stream of exciting doors to flow through.
All is well and working out perfect for you!
Happy door walk-ing!!!
