Frequently Asked Questions About The Complete Beginners Guide To The Stock Market Course
FAQ – Complete Beginners Guide To The Stock Market
Hi, all here’s some FAQs for you to peruse. These are just to help you figure out if this course is for you! Enjoy! Lots of love, Nick Xxx
This particular course is entitled ‘Complete beginners guide to the stock market and investing.’ My goal is to help those who have an interest in investing in the stock market to help develop their wealth over the long term.
I was always fascinated by the money markets and using this tool but there’s so much information out there and no idea where to begin or who to trust. But after attending some great classes, reading a lot lot lot, doing some investing myself and connecting with other like minded people, I’m pleased to say I have a solid knowledge of this and I love to help those people who want to create a better life for themselves.
This is specifically aimed at anyone who doesn’t know anything, or knows very little about investing, particularly the stock market who wishes to learn more about it. My intention is to provide a fun, informative space where we can learn, support and grow with each other. We’ll be doing a mix of practical, theory and written exercises. By the end of the workshop, you should have a stronger idea of where you’re going and the next steps to help grow your wealth if you so wish.
Slightly more advanced thinkers are welcome but you may find this course a bit basic. Feel free to get in touch if you have any doubts.
The three goals I have for you are:
Perfect! You are just who this course is created for! It is aimed specifically at beginners who are interested in learning but who know very little about this field. It can feel overwhelming and a bit scary with all the information out there, but my goal is to help support you and get you thinking about ways to grow your wealth for the years to come. You may not realise it, but just by living your daily life you are in constant contact with information which can help you decide where to invest.
I firstly would seek to differentiate between finance and increasing one’s wealth. Finance has a bit of a corporate, staid image. However, I would think most people (although not everyone) would like to work towards a more secure financial future for the years to come. And there are some really easy steps you can do towards this. In a nutshell, if it’s something you think you’d be interested in then I’d say give it a go, maybe do some reading beforehand if you want. Even after the course if you decide it’s not currently for you, then knowing what you don’t want is just as important as knowing what you do want. And you never know, years down the line things may change.
For me, I want to feel in control of my financial future. I also really enjoy this subject of life so it works perfectly for me!
Fantastic! Neither do I! Although my dad was an accountant, numbers really are not my strong point. Whilst it is definitely helpful to be able to read a company’s accounts, I personally believe that there are a number of other ways of using the practical, everyday information around you to work out how best to invest. There will be some maths involved and of course the stronger you are with numbers the more beneficial it will be, but just because you’re rubbish with numbers don’t let that stop you! Like I said, accounting is really not my strength so I completely sympathise, hence the setting up of this workshop.
From all the reading I’ve done, broadly speaking- across the decades, across almost every country, the stock market has generally outperformed other investments such as: bonds, gilts etc. Although especially in London, New York and other bustling cities one might argue that property has done well (and it has!), the extra costs, government fees and all that, not only take away from your gains but also the extra administration and stress that goes into it is arguable more of a pain to deal with (or at least it would be for me!). Plus, it’s a huge financial responsibility to take on something as big as that. You can invest in the stock market from as little as £25 a month and in this day and age of technology, it needn’t take more than 10 mins to setup and you’re ready to go!
Part of the reason the stock market has been so successful is that companies continue to do grow and develop. Everything from Apple to Google, AirBnB, start-ups and crowdfunding, it’s never been a more expansive time to take control and do things your way and a number of these have resulted in tremendous successes!
It doesn’t need to be! The images you tend to see in the media are a bit exaggerated but also relate more to day trading (buying and selling in the short term). Whilst investigating the markets, charts and numbers are important, there are a number of ways you can evaluate a company- everything from whether you and your friends like it, to who is managing the company. You can spend as much or as little time doing the research- it just depends on you.
Whilst films like the Wolf Of Wall Street give impressions of millions exchanging hands in minutes this isn’t the case with what we’ll learn. Slow and steady wins the race here with these methods. Getting rich quick involves a huge amount of risk and money, which most of us neither have nor have the appetite for.
One of things which appeals to me most about this is how low you can get started in this. You don’t need to be rich to get involved. You just need to be consistent and diligent. You can start investing on a monthly basis from as little as £25. I always recommend investing money that you have no problem losing. The last thing you want is to not be able to sleep because you’re worried if your shares have gone up or down! You can invest much more if you want, but cost shouldn’t be a block to whether you can get started, especially when it’s less than a pound a day- a lot of people spend more on their coffees and lunches or even one semi fancy dinner!
Whilst there are no guarantees, it is generally agreed that a 5-8% annual return is reasonable (although it can go a lot more down and up!) when investing in an index such as the FTSE 100- this tends to yield a more reliable and stable return. The long term combined with compounding interest is what leads to the huge growth that not many other things can compete with! If you wish to invest in individual shares then the risk/gain can be much more. Some of my shares are currently 80%+ return in just over a year (which is pretty spectacular). Having said that, some are -30+%! The goal isn’t to try and play the guessing game but to intelligently mitigate the risk, so there are gains to be made whilst not wiping you out.
Great stuff! I really believe it's worth virtually everyone learning about to take control of their financial future. It's going to be intimate, learning focused classes with a variety of exercises, discussions and pointers to help you move forward. If you're mega lazy, with a decent appetite for risk, then you could be up and running first thing Monday morning. If you're more studious, then you can definitely do more research, reading and learning and hopefully you'll be feeling more confident armed with this new found knowledge. I can't wait to connect! You can RSVP on the link below. As it stands, I'm doing one round of workshops across the cities and depending on how that goes I might do another in the near future.

I firstly would seek to differentiate between finance and increasing one’s wealth. Finance has a bit of a corporate, staid image. - I don’t do accounts!
