They learn in a variety of settings- everywhere from a high street chain of restaurants, to posh private dining rooms in exclusive establishments. And wow! The work that goes on in front and behind the scenes is incredible. It's something you really can take for granted, especially as it looks so effortless, but if one thing breaks down in the chain, it is havoc for the staff and customers waiting for their food and bits.
You've got the maitre d' at the front, welcoming the guests and dealing with any problems, the wait staff, the sommeliers, the chefs, those at the pass. It really is quite overwhelming how much goes into serving a plate of food and serving it well.
As with all things in life, there is much to appreciate there. Be a little more patient, a little kinder to those serving you. It can go a long way in ease and fun for all. And if they are a bit sheet, then just send them love!
