So, after a high flying weekend thus far, today was back at Volleyball, I was so excited!!! Again, it really highlighted to me the importance of a great teacher. Even if you don't know what you're doing and feel a bit stupid, you should feel safe enough to be in that space anyway, so you can learn.
It is a completely personal thing, I would imagine a lot of people would thrive and go to the next level under a teacher as featured in the film Whiplash (the music maestro was terrifying and kept pushing his students!). But I think for me, I would completely crumble. I tend to perform best when I'm in that flow of relaxedness alertness/excitedness. When I looked back to last night's turkey, I was having fun and completely relaxed and in the zone which helped me get 3 strikes at bowling. Work out what works best for you!
People sometimes question their worthiness to teach (or do anything). As I've learnt from Abraham, everyone is not in the same place, so one teacher is not going to be able to satisfy all things for all people. I tend to work best with people who are reaching for ease (I'm not big into pushing people or goal setting), deep thinkers, control freaks (or at least that's me! Ha) and light heartedness- I do love fun and have a wacky sense of humour. But I know that I am definitely not everyone's cup of tea.
Anyhoo, at volleyball today, I was a having a mildly off day. I wasn't passing particularly well and didn't feel in the flow. Interestingly enough- which way does it go? You're not in the flow so you don't do well, or you don't do well which impacts if you're in the flow.
But this is slightly beside the point. So, the practise was a little off for me, but I was still hungry for more! I can't wait to play again (although it'll be about a month as I'm off to Asia soon!).
Now, obviously if you're having a bad day or while, then you can feel disinterested and just drop it, but I would recommend paying attention to what calls you back time and time again.
For me, this way of being is everything. To know I am in control of my experience means everything to me! For other people I know they can dip in and out of it, but if even when you're down and out and you still are coming back to it, then I would say it holds some value to you and is worth investing time pursuing it in whichever way you can.
People question their life purpose- one of the processes I have taught is to write down where you feel comfortable, what you currently enjoy doing and what you enjoyed as a child and what would you do more of. Upon reviewing it, there are usually themes. Helping people, creativity, sports, physicality etc. Try doing more of what you love and have an enjoyable life experience! Do things you love so much you would do it until you transition!
Happy life experiencing to you!!!
Lots of love, Nick Xxx
