It's funny, and I'll be the first to admit I do this! But whenever someone (in this case, from the UK) declares they are going abroad eg. America, Asia, USA or wherever, we usually go 'OMG, you're so lucky to be getting away!' (Or words to that effect.)
When those in those places usually get the same reaction if they say they are coming to the UK (I would imagine!).
Anyhoo, my point is, the underlying tone can sometimes be 'How lucky you are to be going away to be anywhere but here!' And yes it's more than just the destination- it's the excitement and adventure of the journey and so on. But it can be the case that in life, we are always reaching for that 'I want to be over in that place which isn't here.' (Usually that place being- more money, a relationship, a new car, house etc). And yes, there will always be more to reach for, as you are eternal and the continuous desire is part of that magnificent life flowing through you. But still! Take a minute to admire and adore exactly where you are, wherever you are!
I must admit that I of all people am always looking forward to the next thing to do, place to visit and peoples to teach (so much so that most of this year is already booked solid!). But one of my New Year's Resolutions (remember those things you might've done in Jan? Lol) has inadvertently become to appreciate more of what is around me.
Now it doesn't matter if you're concentrating on the past/present/future, all that matters is you're feeling good. But one great technique is just to take a few deep breaths and make a short list of things that you are appreciative of around you. Even 'small' things like running water and electricity are great (these are definitely not 'small' things but we can take it for granted- try having your electric/water cut off for a few hours!).
And as you get into that feeling mode of goodness and wellness, you start to draw to you more goodness and wellness!
Happy appreciating your wherever you are!!! Lots of love, Nick Xxx
Oooh, yay! Tomorrow I'm back in Brighton for an evening workshop! We are going to werk it!!! Xxx
