Investments... Schminvestments!!! What's the point?! Xxx

So, it was finance class the other day and as always, with excellent teaching and fun classmates I walked away inspired and a little bit more learned!

We were part way through class, going through investments and all the myriad of permutations and this wonderful artsy lady (who seemed to be quite clearly struggling with the info overload!), just burst out with 'What's the point? We're just going to die anyway?'

To which the teacher replied 'Yes, but I would like to live a comfortable one before I die.' There was then a little more discussion about how you could have art, or singing etc to help make money. And teach said 'Yes, that's wonderful if you have the talent for it! But not everyone does.'

The impression I got was that the lady didn't quite understand why put in all the effort just to get some money.

But it's so much more than that! We want you to do what you do, because you love it. Because it calls you forward.  I am having so much brain stimulation learning something new. Far too often, we do something because of the results we think it will reap (in this case researching investments for the end goal of getting more money), but if you do more things you enjoy, then the rest will follow. I am enjoying so much, the learning and delving into all the possibilities there are out there. What fun!

So make more time to do things which you truly enjoy. We spend far too much time regretting, fearing or being bored by what we are doing.

Just get on the path to enjoyment!
