I was watching the iPlayer programme where a doctor works with people who have chronic conditions to try to work out where things can be improved (on a side note it's the usual suspects which can provide a lot of relief- eating properly, less stress and more positivity).
Anyhoo, he was with this lady who had cluster headaches- also known as suicide headaches- they are so bad and can be so frequent they make you want to rejoin non physical!
She had done an amazing job thus far as she had a family to raise and was busy busy. The doctor used a multi method approach as her condition was so bad. He got the family to eat and drink better, did body therapies, some down time with the husband and all sorts.
And part way into the treatment it got so much worse- something like 70-80 headaches in a week and they looked excruciatingly painful! I have no idea how she did it!
It was at this point she had to decide if she wanted to continue the treatment. Thankfully she did and even more thankfully the headaches subsided tremendously to where it had been almost the best it had ever been in her life. Incidentally, they think it might have been due to a whiplash type thing car crash she had when she was young.
Anyhoo, watching the episode I really hoped that she stuck with it and didn't give up when it got really bad as I know how these things can unfold!
When we have a clear out and improvement of our life things can get much worse before it gets better. It's a clearing process, also known as the Herxheimer effect. Especially if it's deep seated old stuff which we are clearing, it can get pretty awful!
So we can either decide to give up and think it's too painful or we can be trusting that it will pass. Having a professional and supportive people can really be helpful in these times!
But keep going and trusting that you're going to be ok and this too shall pass!
