Amy Adams was talking about one of her earlier experiences of being in a film and she was opposite the wonderful Meryl Streep! Amy had to scream at her fand was obviously terrified about performing with such a renowned actress, especially as she was fairly new to the game.
She had quite a lot of trouble landing the lines and it took her something like 10 or 11 takes before getting it right! To which Meryl kept up a wonderful job of giving her lines without problems!
Afterwards Meryl came up to her and told her that she must be kind to herself because she did a really great job.
What a consummate professional!
She raises a very good point. It's so easy to berate and be hard on ourselves, especially if we haven't performed our best. But we must treat ourselves like little children and be kind, patient and gentle with ourselves.
That's really the easiest and nicest way to grow. Love yourself, be kind to yourself, be kind to others, it's just a nice way of living!
