I was at a baptism the other day. And whilst always a sweet event of welcoming a newborn into the world, it can be a bit laden with sin-this and sin-that (it was a Catholic one!).
Bracing myself for the inevitable, I was very pleasantly surprised when the priest gave a short spiel which was to the effect of 'Teach him to be afraid of nothing' and 'He was born out of love.' It was a lovely talk. It even had us commenting on it long after the ceremony was over.
It highlighted to me that within most schools of thought is positivity and life-affirmingness. I was raised Catholic so know all too well about the extollsion of virtues of being in this world of 'temptation.'
But at the core of all things, is the need to feel better. Whether that's the more extreme versions of beliefs (which seek to keep intact the way things were), or the more liberal schools of thought which focus on the wonder of how things could be.
So, sift and sort, sift and sort! Take from each system that which you do like. And if you're really not onboard with any of that, then use it to clarify what you don't want. And there's great value in that too!
Have fun with this!!!
Happy sort-ing!!!
