A bit o Belinda and psychology remix in the title there!

I have just started reading 'Misbehaving' by Richard Thaler- it's quite a fascinating amalgamation of economics and psychology (which is really interesting as the material finds me revisiting stuff I studied over a decade ago in my Psychology degree!). It basically states that people don't generally behave inline with absolute economic maximisation. For example- it feels worse to lose £5 if you had £10 in your wallet than it would to lose £5 if you had £1,000 in your wallet. It's the same amount i.e. £5, but the psychological weighting is completely shifted!

It's all about perspective! It actually ties quite nicely in with this Law Of Attraction work albeit slightly differently. Both schools encourage you to not dwell negatively on the past. Something along the lines of 'I should really stay in this horrible job/relationship/study because I've already spent 10 years and a lot of money invested in this...' This is what psychologists call 'sunk loss' theory- because you've expended a lot of resources on something in the past- you feel that you should continue, although that really makes no rational sense!

Now, that's not to say you should just run away and ditch everything just because you're unhappy with it. But from the LOA perspective, it's more to change how you view it. So we would encourage you to make peace with where you are, look for something, anything to appreciate within that situation and then either stay or go. Let the law bring the best of that situation to you or a new, better circumstance. Just set your tone first!

It makes no economical or vibrational sense to feel bad about what's been- Abe say regret is the most wasteful of emotions because it's not anything you can change. Not easy, especially for us introverts (what about that thing I feel guilty about that I did 10 years ago?!). But that is the goal!

Try to feel as good as you can whenever you stand. Let go of your old ties, your present ties and your future ties. Do your best to feel free- and you are completely free because you can choose the thoughts you think and the feelings you feel!

All is well. Just chill!

Happy sunk-ing!!!

Lots of love, Nick Xxx
