I was listening to the audiobook 'The Vortex' and Jerry Hicks did the intro to it. One thing he said which caught my ear- was that despite having a very contrasty childhood (and it sounds like he really did, he one day decided to let his mother off the hook and instead of getting sucked into her beingness, he thought he would just enjoy her eccentricities and be amused by them and from then on didn't argue with her for 40 years!
Now that is quite an amazing story- I'm not sure I could ever be as zen as that- especially for that long! But that's an amazing story from him!
It's ultimately about making up your mind to see something in a certain way and keeping to it. Life is a matter of perspective, someone could say something slightly negative to you and if you're in a mood, it'll trip you off. But if you're in a secure, stable spot, then it'll just fly off you like water off the proverbial duck's back!
Try to let everyone off the hook- they are all doing their own thing and it needn't impact you at all, unless you let it. That is true zen-ery!
