Now, let's call a spade a spade- there is a huge component of physicality involved in playing sports. To be at the top of your game, involves a tremendous amount of athleticism, prowess and conditioning. BUT the mental component cannot be overlooked. It can be the difference between make or break (point!).
I was watching the last moments of a tennis match a little while ago between Nadal and Dogopolov. And Nadal is obviously one of the bestest in the world and I hadn't even heard of the other guy! But the other guy won! I was sitting there contemplating it all when the commentator said 'The power of positive thinking.' He didn't elaborate on it but what perfect timing when I heard that.
I've heard that sports players visualise the scoring of goals and points before matches and what not. Because it does help! Getting your mind into the right space is something everyone at the top of their field is aware of in some shape or form.
They carry themselves differently, their expectations for success and what they are wanting is heightened. And it keeps them focused on what they DO want (ooh, where have I heard that before?!).
So whether it's the game of life or football or whatever activity takes your fancy, train your mind, have fun whilst playing it (of course!) and BOOM enjoy beating Nadal!
