One family he stays with eats a ton of junk food and are very overweight. Seems a fairly open and shut case- just get them to eat healthier! It was only when he started grilling them (pardon le pun!), as to how it got started, when he found out the true reason. It turns out that the mother had gone through a lot of trauma and in particular, she had lost her brother. As they got caught up in all of that, they turned to junk food as it was fast and they didn't really have time to focus on cooking and stuff. And since then, it just carried on. So they ate tons of fast food, they feel sluggish, they gain weight, eat more fast food, feel more sluggish, gain more weight and so on...
Interesting or what?! That's why the better it gets the better it gets, or the worse it gets, the worse it gets! You start on the upward or downward cycle and it can spiral, gain more momentum and carry on. The trick is to somehow, someway break the spell. Either by appreciating and focusing on all the good in that situation, or by letting go and putting your attention elsewhere.
We want you to be aware that when things are not as you want them to be, try shifting it. Offering more downstream thoughts such as 'This too shall pass. It's only a phase. Things are always working out for me. I wonder what good can come out of all of this?'
Being aware of negativity and then looking to shift it when you can is vital to being a masterful master. It is that simple in theory! Things needn't run out ahead of you for too long. You may need to just be patient and allow it to just fizzle out, but keep your eye on the goal- that is to focus in a better feeling direction.
