It really was moving and I thought she did an excellent job in it! For me, it was a standout in the movie. And I recently read that she drew upon her own experience with Kenneth Branagh fuel that part.
Whilst it was a painful thing for her to go through, she channeled it for a more positive cause- our entertainment. Kidding!
But we don't need to be bogged down by previous contrast. We can use it to propel us to the next level. Adele would probably not be a millionth as successful as she is now had it not been for her heartbreak which she put into her songs.
Take the pain and make it into gain (when you're ready!).
