It is so wonderful to observe my little nephew growing up. It is such a joy to see a little pure child- a tabula rasa, learn about his surroundings through constant experience.
What he shows me is that he continuously falls over as he learns to walk, gets his fingers caught everywhere, bangs his head but it's all part of learning and growing. He doesn't trip over and then declare he's no good at it and refuse to get up and move. He just props himself up, and keeps on going, ever eager to resume play in his surroundings!
As Louise Hay says- we need to treat ourselves as gently as a little child. Not berate ourselves, tell ourselves we're no good or make up some excuse to give up! We just keep on going, being our own best friend, hopefully, but not necessarily surrounded with people who will support and love us. It's defo worth seeking out like minded, supportive people, especially if you need a boost from time to time, it can make the world of difference!
The more you get out there; the more you try; the more you'll 'fail!' Although you won't actually be failing, you'll be learning and growing and only when you look back will you be able to see how important it was to go through whatever it was you went through.
Make it your mission to be someone who experiences it for the sake of it and not for some ulterior motive. Listening to the wildly successful stories from the A-list actors and actresses on The Hollywood Reporter Roundtables, their decades were littered with rejection after rejection, after rejection, after rejection! No really! Watch some episodes and you'll see! But they came to the realisation that acting (or writing or composing etc) was their passion that they would just continue to do it anyway. Such is the strength of their calling.
So follow your bliss, keep on going. It doesn't matter how many times you fall over, all that counts is that you get back up and keep going!
All is fun!!!
Happy fall-ing!!!
Lots of love, Nick Xxx
