So, what with all this internet, blogging, Facebook, Twitter. Never has there been an easier or quicker time to connect with your most beloved (and hated!) friends, acquaintances and celebrities!
Unfortunately the down side to this is the proliferation of a phenomenon called 'Trolling.' The posting of negative, inflammatory comments on someone's online posts has become very commonplace.
The best way, apparently to deal with this is to simply 'don't feed the trolls,' ie don't respond but simply ignore them.
I'd like to think that trolls are usually mean people who are just expressing themselves through another way! Lol. And not good people who are influenced to just write any old negative crap simply because they can!
As Abe says- 'no one in alignment would hurt anyone.' And I like to believe this is true!'
So today I came across a really interesting article. A writer had been heavily abused online for her articles and posts. Then one day someone messages her using her dead dad's profile! She eventually confronts him and he breaks down and says the reason he is so mean to her is because she is comfortable with herself and he doesn't like himself!
Whenever someone is being hurtful or cruel, it is because they are in a place of deep pain. And it isn't easy, but when you know that, then at least you can show them compassion (and not punch them!). That is what Jesus was talking about- love thy enemy. Not for their sake but because you are a good person and you know they must be in a really horrible place to be acting that way.
That is truely unconditional love! Because it's easy to love someone who loves us. The true work is what to do when someone who is standing in our face with hatred, now that is true mastery if you can get there! Not easy, I know, but that is the work.
Feeling good no matter what!
Happy loving the trolls!!!
Lots of love, Nick Xxx
