I was watching my favourite interview series- the Hollywood Reporter round tables- this showcases and gathers some of the most successful people in film and TV and gets them to chat about their lives, careers and experiences. I just love it!
I was watching the TV interviews and one of them grabbed me and she was so funny. She spoke about one of her first few experiences of auditioning. She somehow got wind of it and she rocked up, the other actresses were chatting to each other and playing the game of 'Who is your agent? One-up-manship!' She was thinking 'Erm, I'm my own agent!'
She then burst into the audition and was pretty rude to the audition people, but she got the part!!!
She said that it was because she didn't know any better- she didn't know she had to have an agent or the etiquette around being in the casting room. Had she, she might have had been too fearful or just assumed she wouldn't be eligible, but because of her ignorance she just went in was herself and got the role!
Sometimes, it's best to not know too much, to be a clean slate and go in with that pure expectation- ignorance can be bliss!
All is well!!!
Happy ignorance-ing!!!
Lots of love, Nick Xxx
