One of my friends was telling me a funny but important story which just demonstrated how we can project our insecurities and expect the worst!
She was really into this guy and they ended up taking a picture together. She noticed that on his Instagram he had loads of pictures of gorgeous ladies but he hadn't posted hers...
Obliviously she was quite upset by it and eventually asked him why he didn't post it. To which he replied 'big belly.' She got annoyed and insecure, thinking that her belly wasn't that bad at all!
It was only when she saw the picture that she realised he was talking about his own belly and not hers!
It just goes to show that we needn't always jump to these negative conclusions immediately and had it not been for our insecurities and projections, we can react in a calm, secure manner.
When we truly appreciate and love ourselves then we don't need to act defensively when we hear a comment from another person which might not even be what we think they mean by it. Give yourself and others the benefit of the doubt!
