Abraham recounts the time when Jerry was being trained as a lifeguard. He was told that in some cases, the person drowning would be thrashing and in panic so much that he might not be able to do anything for them and he would have to let them drown. He responded what was the point of being a lifeguard if he couldn't save them? To which the teacher pointed out that if Jerry didn't let them go, they would drag him down and they would both drown and then he would be of no use to anyone after that!
The moral of these tales is that you have to take care of your physical, emotional and mental well being first and foremost and then from that place of strength you can shine upon anyone that wonderful spotlight of well being.
You must be selfish enough to feel good! You don't do anyone any service by joining them in their misery (even if it does like company!), instead you are the most benefit when you can see someone as healthy, whole, complete and brilliant. They'll rise to this expectation and if they don't, then that is their choice but nothing to do with you.
All is well!!!
Happy compete-ing!!!
